Common questions
When must I register for VAT?
Registration is compulsory once taxable supplies exceed the threshold set by SARS in any 12 month period. Voluntary registration is possible below it. We check which applies to you.
Why does VAT registration cost more than other registrations?
SARS scrutinises VAT applications closely. Most of the work is in preparing evidence of trading activity and dealing with SARS verification, which is where poorly prepared applications stall.
Do I need to go to a SARS branch?
Usually not. Most registrations are completed online. If SARS requests an in person verification, we tell you exactly what to bring.
